I am a mixed-media artist, currently working with a blend of photographic practices, painting, and collage.
My practice dances on a line between happenstance and intentionality - wanting to play with chance, yet also seeking some measure of control. Much like polishing a rough stone, to me making work often involves making intuitively. I play with materials and tools first, allowing things to happen, to transform, and to be revealed, before refining the results into the essence of my ideas; or the experiences I am trying to convey.
I’m currently fascinated by the idea of impermanence, how change and states of flux influence all things, material and immaterial, and how this especially can be represented in art. Process is a big part of this, and it is often in experimenting with processes that I am able to explore this change, in relation to chance, and control.
